The Iconic Bonnet Story

I began sewing when I was 11 years old. I wanted to sew something so my dad took me to Woolworths in Pennsylvania where we lived at the time. I chose a pattern for a gathered square yolk night gown in a green and turquoise paisley cotton print. My dad helped me lay out the pattern and I cut out the night gown. We followed the directions and it came out nice and I wore that night gown until it wore out. Thus began my passion for sewing.

I’m now many decades older and still love sewing. My daughter is a nurse and asked me to make her a nurse bonnet during the pandemic. I made her a couple and she loved them. Her co-workers asked me to make some for them so I did and they were very happy with them. My daughter told me I should sell them. So I opened an Etsy account and began to sell nurse bonnets. My business quickly grew and I added Men’s Scrub Caps to my line, which have become very popular. I soon started my website iconicbonnet.com I sew each scrub cap from my home sewing studio in Southern California using patterns that I designed and created. I can make them to order, so just contact me and tell me what you’d like and I’ll do my best to accommodate your wishes.
